The Oregon coast is such a peculiar stretch of beach, especially to a Floridian. During my first few visits, I didn’t understand it. It’s always twenty degrees colder than Portland, and the wind is unforgiving. The ocean is just for looking at, not swimming in, because the water is icy, nearly year-round. It’s a beach minus all the beachy things.
